Nat Pernick · Nat's essays on politics, civics, cancer and medicine

Twenty-five years after launching PathologyOutlines.com, Dr. Pernick has begun a second free online medical textbook, How Cancer Arises, with a focus on complexity theory.

The section on CNS diffuse adult type gliomas is now complete, with topics on astrocytoma, IDH mutant; glioblastoma, IDH wildtype; and oligodendroglioma, IDH mutant and 1p/19q codeleted.

Unlike PathologyOutlines.com, which focuses on diagnostic pathology, How Cancer Arises examines the origin of each of the estimated 1,205 human malignancies and includes sections on premalignant precursor lesions, cell(s) of origin, initiating events, major malignant pathways, determinants of histologic patterns and Nat’s comments on complexity theory.

This textbook is not yet peer reviewed, but comments are welcome at Nat@PathologyOutlines.com.
