A little kid just waved to me while out on my walk, and it made me smile. Also, I waved back. Now I’m not much of a waver (especially the habit people have of waving at the end of Zoom calls - why would I do that? we’re not in a parade), but when a three-year-old waves to you, you wave back, damn it.
If you think about it, little kids kind of abuse the waving-to-strangers privilege, but since it’s one of the very few things they’re actually good at, we let them get away with it. Besides, I feel just a little bit lucky when a toddler picks me out to wave at, you know?
Although I do have a friend named David who was approached by a little kid on the street, and the kid told him that he (David) lived in a ghost house.
We can’t all be lucky, I guess. Sorry, David.
RIP
