Natasha Badhwar · Immortal for a Moment by Natasha Badhwar

In my dream last night, there was an aeroplane on the tarmac.

There were suitcases and Customs checkpoints. Packing, unpacking, moving, being lost; these are regular themes in the cinema of my soul.

Yesterday there was a house too. A big home with a double height living room. Like Guddi Massi's duplex flat in our childhood. Like the home I live in now.

A tall tree growing in the living room. Yellow flowers reaching up to the first floor. A smaller Amaltas in the upstairs bedroom. Yellow petals and dry leaves covering the bed, the table, the floor.

My real bedroom looks like that. Not petals, but clothes. Books and diaries. Multicoloured pens. Towels and a pile of ironed clothes. Scarves, caps, jackets, socks.

A dry drizzle of colours I have not swept up. A useful display, an everyday life. Messy and story-ful. Last night I dreamed of roots and branches. And shedding petals and leaves as the season turns.

Do you dream in colour too?
