Notes on Magic, Work, and Wonder | Tarot Lab, Ancestral Tarot, Giveaways

I’ve been working on several changes to both Ancestral Tarot and my Tarot Lab Substacks, and I wanted to let you know what I’ve been up to.

If you haven’t checked out Tarot Lab, it’s a learning experience for new or experienced tarot readers. Paid subscribers will now receive three exclusive (for them) posts a month: deconstructing and reconstructing spreads, real life reading challenges, and practice reading sessions. As you may know, I think teaching tarot in a more organic, intuitive way makes more sense, so you won’t find a lot of traditional methods there.

For monthly or annual paid subscribers, I’ll also be offering a quarterly Zoom session for Q&As or discussions about problematic cards and/or spreads. In addition, my publisher, Red Wheel/Weiser, is sponsoring a quarterly deck or book giveaway for annual paid subscribers.

Here on Ancestral Tarot, we’ll finish out 2026 paid subscriber perks with the Witch’s Ledger and Dark Moon Omens, in addition to two more presentations - one on creating your own ancestral cards and one on both ancestral altars and magical jars. Next year we’re moving into seasonal offerings, reflecting how our ancestors lived more attuned to the natural world.

Paid subscribers will receive a 20% one-time usage code from my friend Stacey at La Panthere Studio. There’s no minimum purchase requirement and the 20% is good for your entire order. Also, Red Wheel/Weiser will sponsor a random giveaway of a deck or book quarterly to annual paid subscribers.

Finally, everyone who gets a Samhain reading (I will announce the readings in September) will be entered into a random drawing for a VERY special deck. I’m waiting for it to arrive from England, but it should be here in plenty of time for Samhain.

That’s all the good stuff - and I’m excited about providing even more perks for paid subscribers. That doesn’t mean I’m ignoring free subscribers because you make up the backbone of my Substacks - I couldn’t do this work without your support. On both of my Substacks I’m dreaming up new posts that are truly helpful to everyone.

Also, if you’ve been thinking of upgrading to a paid subscription, please consider doing it before September 1, as both monthly and annual fees will increase. If you upgrade now, you’ll always maintain the same fee as long as you stay subscribed.
