I used to think ‘purpose’ is strictly something we do. Now I believe it is something we become.

Your purpose is in plain sight.
You don’t have to dig for it.
Your purpose is to grow.
Your purpose is to be fully alive.
In order to be fully alive you have to feel everything.
To feel everything you have to heal.
And to heal you have to break.
The truth is that often, you have to break your own heart first.
Breaking cycles still feels like breaking.
To break your own heart you have to choose differently.
You have to lovingly let go of the old story that kept you safe all this time.
This is the hard part:
to choose yourself you have to be honest with yourself.
Then you have to be honest with others.
You have to run towards truth.
If you cannot run, walk.
If you cannot walk, crawl.
Do it at all costs.
Your best life depends on this.
You have to question everything they told you to be.
Shed the skins you have grown over decades
the layers you wore like masks,
you have to close the curtain on the performance you studied in order to be loved.
You have to give people the opportunity to love the real you.
You won’t know if they do until you show them who that is.
You will be afraid of this.
And you will have to do it afraid.
You have to start again.
You have to hope.
You have to let go of the many shiny identities you carefully constructed, the stories you want others to believe about you.
You have to commit to your own death and rebirth again and again.
You have to do it with your whole heart.
If you do this, you will meet yourself many times over and you will live the most honest, vibrant and whole version of your life possible.
If you do this, you will become love.
If you do this, you will be alive.
This is your purpose.
