A Witches Guide to Lughnasadh (Lammas) Aug 1st

I always feel like this time of the year is bittersweet — summer has passed its half way mark but AUTUMN IS AROUND THE CORNER.

Lammas (also known as Lughnasadh) marks the first harvest of the Summer typically celebrated on the 1st of August. It is a celebration of the Sun and the beginning of seasonal harvests that are yet to come, that originated in Ireland.

Traditionally, the Celtic day started during the sunset of the evening prior. It marks the beginning of where the days become shorter and the nights longer- it is a sign that Winter is coming (GoT reference). I’ll be completely honest, it’s the shorter days that I dread but it does mean fall is on the way so…I can’t complain too much. It is also a good opportunity to grab the blue sky days and make the most of being outside.

With Lammas being the first harvest festival, its main symbol is grains and breads. While I’m not a baker, in this post I will show you different ways you can celebrate this time of year as a Witch that doesn’t require baking bread. Nina Parker is your go to for that!

While it represents the physical harvest of food, it is also a time that everything you’ve worked on so far this year will begin to come to a crest. An opportunity to create your own harvest for your own manifestations.
