My Sister Made Me Buy It · Sunday Dinner

I was going to skip Sunday Dinner this weekend because we are currently on a weekend trip to one of the places we regularly visited with our parents. It still smells the exact same as it did 25 years ago, and we are still having so much fun.

Since I already did half of the work on compiling the sales and tracking everything we have linked so far, and everyone is still sleeping (except for Ben and Kelly - they do have a toddler and a 4-month-old) - I am updating from the same rocking chairs my parents sat in. They would have loved being here with us and their grandkids.

I captured this picture of Jonny pushing the button on Pop A Shot in the arcade while Rebecca is playing. He ADORES her.

Before we get to our curation of sales and all of the links you may have missed, I WOULD LOVE IT IF YOU READ BELOW.

We are currently crowdsourcing micro donations on our stories for Black Fairy Godmother’s (BFGM) Save a Home campaign. Black Fairy Godmother is a 501 (c ) (3) charity that uses social media and mutual aid to raise funds for Black and Brown marginalized families. We have raised over $30k for the organization over the years. Over the past few years, we have participated in the “Save A Home” campaign, where BFGM reviews the need applications and compiles all those that need financial assistance or risk eviction.

After reading the Pulitzer Prize-winning book Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City, I couldn’t stop thinking about the stories of the people who face eviction and how long it affected their lives. That is why we usually focus on helping prevent evictions or preventing utility shut-offs through the charity. A few of the people asking for assistance this year:

We took on a few ShopMy Opportunities (brands pay you to link to or mention them) last month that we probably wouldn't have otherwise, and we raised $2,000.

This year we are doing the same and asking you for any type of donation you may have - even $1 helps! So far we have raised $3,500 in micro-donations. But I would LOVE to get to $5,000.

You can donate directly to Black Fairy Godmother’s Paypal if you want a receipt, our Venmo, or send a Zelle or Paypal to mysistermademebuyit@gmail.com

If you are not on Instagram, we are currently giving away TWO travel Sleep Crowns (as donated by Sleep Crown). I will also be posting about giving away a box filled with gifts (including a $400 leather bag) today. You can enter both here. While we are not doing a “donate for entry” because that makes it a lottery, I am doing a “enter and hopefully feel compelled to donate.”

A round up of our favorite sales:

  • Hotel Lobby Candle - 20% off - Their only annual sale of the year. Plus, you did not hear it from me, but if you add three candles to your cart and go to check out (this is what happened when I checked out yesterday), they will ask you if you want to add another candle, and if you do, you get a free perfume! I love the London perfume.

  • Flamingo Estate - Another luxury home goods brand — the Green Goddess is one of my favorite candles, ever. I received as a gift (they make great gifts) and burned it at the office. I would have people drop in to ask what the scent is because they loved it so much.

  • Bare Necessities Top Drawer Sale (sponsored mention) - Bare Necessities carries a lot of brands that rarely go on sale - the expensive, but worth it brands. Her picks:

    • This bra is good for tees and has side coverage, so it helps keep your sides looking smoother.

    • Also have this minimizer bra, and I like it a lot for sweaters - especially crew neck and turtlenecks that make me look like I have one big uniboob. Comfortable straps that don’t dig too.

    • This sports bra is probably my only high-impact one, and it works well (I just hate high-impact workouts). It also supports your back.

    • This is a pretty good strapless bra. It is not quite as supportive as the red carpet (the BEST strapless bra that rarely goes on sale) for very large chests, but it lifts like it and stays up. If you’re smaller than a DD, I think this is a great sale option.

  • Soma - $30 bra event - every bra is $30, including the follower favorite wireless Enbliss bra.

  • Anthropologie - 30% off selected items

  • Tevas are never discounted, but they are 30% off every color. I LOVE these. Have been wearing the past two summers and they are the best if you have any sort of foot pain - they provide arch support while also anchoring your heel to the sandal so your toes don’t have to work overtime.

    • My pink mirrored dress. I am between sizes, so I am unsure on sizing here. I am wearing a 2X in the pic above, but it was a little baggy, but fit in shoulders. I would look at the reviews for more details. It really is a cute party/event dress, though.

  • J. Crew - Extra 75% off some sale items

    • I loved how I felt and looked in this dress - very Doen-esque. And it is less than $30?! It is final sale, but I just sized up one from their size chart and it fit perfectly on me. It is great if you are apple shapes. Also available in this color.

Amazon has 30% off some of my favorite lip products.

Love this perfect nude pink for those of us with lighter skintones and more cooler undertones.
Missy influenced me on this plumping lip gloss. I use the Pillow Talk color. It plumps and adds a little sparkle without being too spicy. This is on top of the lipstick above.
I love these lip serums that are 20% off. The moisturizing and hydrating properties of a lip balm, but plumping effect (without any spice) and tint of a gloss. This is Peach Nectar.

That’s it for now! Gotta go hang out with my family!
