Matthew T. Adams, Michelle Adams · My Reasons To Believe

Today’s Focus: What you feed your mind daily eventually becomes what you believe, and what you believe eventually becomes what you do.

Matthew: Yesterday was about the body. Today is about the mind, and I’d argue this one gets neglected even more, because you can’t see a scattered mind the way you can see a body that’s let itself go. Nobody catches you in the mirror with a mind that’s been fed junk for a decade. The damage just shows up quietly, in decisions that don’t make sense, in patience that’s thinner than it used to be, in a man who can’t seem to think clearly about anything anymore.

Day 13 already named part of this problem, your attention scattered across whatever’s loudest. Today goes a layer deeper. It’s not just about where your attention goes. It’s about what you’re actually putting into your mind on purpose, day after day, and whether that input is building you or quietly wearing you down.

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Romans 12:2

Paul ties discernment directly to a renewed mind, not a naturally gifted one. Renewal is active, ongoing, something a man participates in daily rather than something that simply happens to him. A mind left unrenewed doesn’t stay neutral. It conforms, quietly, to whatever it’s been fed most consistently.

That word conformed is worth sitting with. It doesn’t describe a dramatic hostile takeover. It describes a slow pressing into a shape, the same way water shapes stone over years, not through one violent event but through constant, patient contact. A mind is being pressed into a shape right now, today, by whatever it has been steadily exposed to, whether or not a man has ever consciously chosen that shape for himself.

What You Feed Determines What Grows
