Today’s Focus: The body is not a distraction from the spiritual life. It is where the spiritual life actually gets lived out.
Matthew: Day 10 named the problem. You’d neglected your body, treated it like a tool you’d get around to maintaining eventually. Today is different. Today isn’t about naming neglect. It’s about actually rebuilding, starting with something concrete instead of another good intention that dies by Thursday.
The body isn’t separate from your walk with God, something to manage on the side while the real spiritual work happens somewhere else. It’s the actual vessel that walk gets lived out in. Every discipline you’ve built this week, prayer, presence, structure, gets carried out through a body that’s either capable of carrying it or worn down from years of being an afterthought.
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Paul wasn’t writing to athletes. He was writing to ordinary believers who needed reminding that the body is not incidental to a man’s spiritual life. It’s the actual dwelling place of the Spirit, and rebuilding it today isn’t vanity. It’s stewardship of something that was never fully yours to neglect in the first place.
