Monday 16th August, 1965

Dull at first but a nice warm sunny afternoon. Washed two cars K,G. Finished clearing the weeds from under the rhodies. Still in the bloody dog house. No sign of brightening. Sunday 15th August, 1965

Got up at 9.45 a.m. Some slight rain at first but fine later. Cleared small rose bed. Jane very amusing with the kitten. Never went out. Watched T.V. Not very good.

Saturday 14th August, 1965

Didn t get up until nearly 10a.m. Did all the mowing and some weeding as well. Kitten seems to be settling down ok. Went to the pub at night. Quite warm but cloudy.

Friday 13th August, 1965

Yet another wonderful day. Warm and sunny. Got a lovely black kitten off Joho Keys. Washed Dol s car, making 94 to date. Did some more cleaning under rhodies. Still in dog house.

Thursday 12th August, 1965

Grouse shooting begins Yet another lovely warm sunny day. Did B1 car and polished it. Going in for a new one. 1 ton coke. A.P. Lots of meal to burn. Did some more under the rhodies.

Wednesday 11th August, 1965 (Half quarter day)

A lovely day again with lots of warm sunshine. Went to Blackpool for the day. Very nice. Got home at 10.30. Saw the rodeo*. Quite good. Nell not very pleased. *It could have been this show. Apparently, wild west shows were quite popular in Blackpool in the 60s.

Tuesday 10th August, 1965

Another lovely day. Clearing under the rhodies. Done one bed. Ran out of juice on the way home at noon. Had to get a gallon from Little Neston. 5.10½.

Monday 9th August, 1965

The best day so far, sunny and warm. Beryl Waterworth got married today. Car washing K, Cuy. Started to scythe under the rhodies. A lot to cut again.

Sunday 8th August, 1965

A nice day but a cool wind still. Cleared the big rose bed and burnt all the hedge clippings. The gang came for tea. Jane doing a funny little walk.

Saturday 7th August, 1965

Not a bad day but the wind still cold. Did all the lawns and finished cutting the hedge. Went out with Bill Edwards. Stars and Nags Head. Saw Keith.
