Forgotten keyboards, dusty organs, and salvaged circuitry...
Exeter Contemporary Sounds and Ian Summers have been finding and restoring curious instruments to working life. Now, you can hear these idiosyncratic machines speak.
A 75-minute performance of new works including Simon Belshaw's Music Machines for diverse keyboards and voices, Hugh Nankivell's Fallow, Emma Welton's already finished for electric pipe organ and speaking pipe-ist and a new piece from Paul Whitty formed from time spent with the organs found in tiny mid-Devon churches.
Text and music performed by the composers, with the voices of Jez Winship and Alison Sweatman.
Lost and Found celebrates the rescued, repurposed, and reimagined.
One-off, unrepeatable, and a little strange.
Come and hear what’s been hiding in the cupboards.
