PAKISTAN LOOKS FOR PEACE WITHOUT SECURITY

On Sunday, 19 April at Model United Nations of the Far West (MUNFW), I had the opportunity to speak with the Security Council (SC) delegate of Pakistan, Zara Alam, who made clear that Pakistan’s primary goal is to provide Türkiye global protection.

The delegate asserted, “We focus a lot on diplomacy and peace, as that is our primary goal and our first option. And luckily, China, Russia, and the United States are willing to, at the very least, communicate with us on what types of mechanisms would pass and what wouldn’t within our resolution. So we can ensure that we get things passed that actually, ensure that Syrian civilians are protected in the best way possible.”

Acting as a mediator in the Middle East, Pakistan is looking for a desired outcome between the U.S. in a genuine effort to find de-escalation avenues that disrupt global conflict for diplomacy. In light of recent events between India and Pakistan that resulted in several civilian casualties between the two Member States, Pakistan urged collaboration as the priority of the SC Member States as partners look for viable pathways to peace.
