Collectors Start Here: A Studio Clean-Out Sale

I’ve been struggling to find my rhythm this summer. I’m a morning person, up at 5 or 5:30 for some quiet before working in the studio, or outdoor painting landscapes, or daytime teaching. This summer I’m teaching evenings at art centers outside the city and not getting home until very late. Between the schedule flip and Philadelphia’s heat and humidity my brain is mush and I’ve been out of sorts.

Struggling to find my studio rhythm this past week, I did what I always do when I a feeling lost: I cleaned. It turned into an inventory process too. F.A.N. Gallery wants a solo show from me in February 2027 and I have a show at Alfa Art Gallery in New Brunswick, NJ this September. I needed to see what I have, what frames can be repurposed, what panels and sizes are on hand, which sent me digging through flat files and cabinets to make room and repurpose materials.

The last time I cleaned out at this scale was for Philadelphia Open Studio Tours, back in October 2024. I’m sitting out that event this year because of my fall teaching schedule, but the reorganization was necessary.

Here’s where everything landed:

Studio Demo Sale: a new listing on my website

A batch of small original paintings in watercolor, oil, and gouache made while teaching, testing ideas, or sketching out larger compositions. Some are color studies testing a mix before a bigger painting; some were made live in front of a class demonstrating a technique. Each was done in an hour or less, and there’s a rawness to them I really like. I didn’t want to throw them away, but I don’t have room to store them safely (many were living in a shoebox under my desk).

New, full-price work on my website

My newer, current work is up and available at regular price. This is where you’ll find fully finished, gallery-ready pieces if you like the newer work you have seen but can’t get to one of the galleries. Some are sold framed, but pieces sold without the frame (I’m reusing those for an upcoming show) are priced lower. I’m also open to installment plans for full-priced work. I love that people want to bring my work into their spaces, but I also recognize that sometimes requires some financial juggling.

I’ll post more about the upcoming exhibitions once dates and details are locked in. For now, this is why the studio’s about to get busy, and why I’m clearing space in the studio and my head for this fall and into 2027.

• 2 cups canned white beans (cannellini or great northern), drained and rinsed

• 1 6-ounce jar marinated artichoke hearts, roughly chopped and reserving about a tablespoon of the marinade oil

• 1/2 a small red onion, thinly sliced

• 10 fresh basil leaves, chopped

• 3 tablespoons olive oil plus 1 tablespoon oil from the artichoke hearts

• Juice of 1/2 a lemon

• 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, freshly cracked

• crushed red pepper to taste

• feta or mozzarella cheese, crumbled or cubed (optional)

In a bowl, add canned white beans, artichoke hearts, red onion, and fresh basil leaves.

Make the dressing: In a small bowl or jar whisk together olive oil and some of the artichoke heart marinade, lemon juice, black pepper, and crushed red pepper.

Pour the dressing over the bean mixture and toss gently to coat. Top with feta or mozzarella cheese if using, and serve alongside baguette, goat cheese, olives, or roasted peppers— or on its own.
