Here is another good article explaining the 'pride' pushback.

Why Pride lost the public

It made me question what it means to 'support' and 'celebrate' what used to be called gay rights (and I use that term to apply to the whole 'alphabet soup community' of today).

As someone who exists outside of that community, my support for gay rights comes from a support for all people to have equal rights and the expansion of civil rights generally. And the form of this support is speaking in defense of these rights and the struggle to obtain them.

This struggle to obtain civil rights is what all people can celebrate about any group facing and overcoming prejudice. I am not a woman, but I celebrate the struggle that women had to go through to obtain the right to vote, work, and own property. I am not black, but I celebrate their struggle to overcome racial discrimination and achieve equal rights.

Similarly, I'm not part of the gay community, but I celebrate their struggle to be full members of our society with equal rights and protections. This expansion of civil rights to previously discriminated groups doesn't interfere with or curtail the civil rights of others.

Conflict begins when the push for equal rights turns into the the invention of a protected class of people demanding special rights. This phenomenon can be seen in multiple areas of conflict today: the trans movement, the illegal immigration crisis, and the DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) movement. The demand for special rights directly conflicts with the rights of others (the non-protected classes), with the resulting pushback by the infringed.
