This poem was inspired by conversations between HH The Dalai Lama and physicists in quantum science, neurology, which came to inspire the formation of the field of Contemplative Science.
Many physicists and scientists have been inspired, I have discovered, throughout the ages, by wisdom traditions of Kashmir, Tibet, and China in their explorations of phenomena both small and large with the aim of benefiting others through advances that hope to bring new technologies. With the seeming gap or grey area between science and spirit being more and more mainstream (i.e. SAND Conference, CERN’s use of Nataraja Shiva as inspiration; to name a few) the borders between reality and dreams begins to merge and the beauty of these inherent cycles and cosmic forces reveal our interconnectedness.
In the tradition of buddhist science, the great Mahasiddha Nagarjuna is often seen in relation to these sciences and their coemergence with the modern physics of Einstein, Stephen Hawking, Schrödinger, and Marie Curie.
In Kashmir tantra, the cosmos is viewed as the manifestation of Consciousness which is inseparable from three goddesses that represent the forces of Creation, Destruction, and Neutrality; Para , Parapara, and Apara.
The beauty of cycles is revealed, to me, not in the abstract world of conceptualization, but in the upsurge of devotion and love that may accompany the feeling of completeness and interconnectedness of all things; which forms the basis for the scientific approach. Again and again this blueprint shows up in the many fields of research which search for patterns or cycles of both space and time.
Om Svasti
Dark Matter is only silence
The space between phenomena is only illusory
As precious as the stars in the sky
Each star is like my precious teacher
A garland of flowers
Inseparably linked
And on the earth the same is true
All beings as sources of light
All beings free of karma
All worlds instantaneously liberated.
The darkness and light have no reality
Other than ray-like compassion
Emanations appear and show this unfolding
as the perfect wisdom of their benevolence
Proceed knowing of this Great Perfection
from the timeless expanse of your own being
Nothing can untie the bonds of unity
As the play of wisdom-mind is utterly
perfected.
