Knahh aims carefully into the sun, one eye closed. The flicker hints at the descending predator, the eyes are switched. The bullet hits. The stealer of voices plummets, falls into a crevasse. Black blood trails.
Toppling impenetrable screens of masters. The players elevated to masters themselves in rolling for their own fate. Every roll enjoyed and yet a single bullet in the revolver remains. It is your fault now. The Warden’s hands are washed in the assurance of guiltless killing. While washing they tell stories. Focus forwards and backwards, on to break evititeper loops. Back and forth. Tape delay, delay, delay. Well-studied motions need us to live.
Again, delay, long repeat. Rolling for success against one’s own threshold. Repeated thresholds give expected results. Learn the system, learn about yourself. Using percentage dice rolls repeat elements of daily life. No Black Friday with 1/20th reductions. Colonialism wants capitalism wants percentage. I want you to play my game.
Considering the consequences of rolling against oneself, no one else needs a stat block. The enemy warrior is the avalanche is the bird from above is the collapsing cave. Repeated hazards. But why then need weapons damage dice?
Long delay, repetition needs you and you need repetition. In repetition things become comparable. You have 1d10+10 hit points and your knife gifts, cuts, etches 1d10 damage. You can’t kill yourself in 10 seconds unless you are really unlucky. Crit fail, game over, fame over. Repetition of numbers and relations. I am more than my knife, but the hunting rifle of my enemy kills me. Don’t bring a knife to a gun fight. Don’t fight on the mountain. Giving weapons damage dice makes hurting relatable. Makes falling to your death relatable. Height measured in meters, measured in pain, measured in hit points.
With repetition a framework emerges, etched into all brains.
