Finally — after years of work on our immersive documentary DARK ROOMS — we’re bringing the festival version home to CPH:DOX. From 12–22 March, you can experience it alongside 12 other works at the INTER:ACTIVE exhibition at Charlottenborg.
Tickets are moving fast, so make sure to secure your slot early — and join us for the opening tomorrow, Wednesday, from 18:00–21:00.
DARK ROOMS invites intimate exploration across virtual spaces where real stories of sexual awakening ask us to confront taboos and move beyond shame and prejudice into the realm of unspoken desire and personal liberation. Three participants at a time move freely alongside one another through a 4×6m VR playspace during a 35-minute free-roaming experience.
Morph’s most ambitious project to date — led by Mads Damsbo, Laurits Flensted and Anne Sofie Steen Sverdrup — is an international co-production with NAXS Studio (TW) and NowHere Media (DE), created in collaboration with Bedside Productions (DK), Makropol (DK), Pressman Film (US) and Shared Shaped Productions (US).
At its world premiere in Venice, The Guardian called the work “brilliant and unnerving and finally rather moving.” We’re genuinely excited to finally invite friends and colleagues to experience it for themselves.
While cinematic, location-based VR is still an emerging field — with distribution models very much in development — we’re proud of what the team has built, and are now preparing for a larger international tour across Europe, Asia and the United States.
Simultaneously with CPH:DOX, DARK ROOMS will also be presented at SXSW in Austin from 15–18 March. It’s our first time in Texas — let us know if you happen to be around.
In other news: our short film THREE OF CUPS, directed by the brilliant Enotea and Mario Macedo as a pilot during the early development of our feature film MILKWEED, will celebrate its Danish premiere at CPH:DOPX’s Artist & Auteurs section on Thursday. A few tickets are still available.
Hope to see some of you in Copenhagen — or Austin.
