It’s fig season. I love the fruity, almost intoxicating smell of a fig in late summer - fresh, sumptuous and a little sultry all at once. A scent that always gets a compliment. I think I’d happily smell like fig all summer long, and ideally, have it surrounding me wherever I go.
I think a great place to start is with a candle. There’s something about filling a room with a scent you love - nothing too overpowering, just enough to soften the air - whether you’re starting your day doing your makeup, hosting friends or winding down for the evening. For me, it’s got to be the Diptyque Figuier candle. And, in their words, “Woody and warm, green and bright, bark, sap and leaves blend elegantly with almost-ripe figs. A composition inspired by the fragrance of the wind in a fruit garden with the summer sun at its peak.” Dreamy.
For the shower, I love Nécessaire’s Olibanum Body Wash, with notes of vanilla, cassis bud and fig leaf, alongside Fig Fog shampoo and conditioner. There’s also a gorgeous body lotion from Nécessaire that leaves your skin feeling silky and soft, whilst still smelling gorgeously fig-scented. One I haven’t tried yet, but have heard great things about, is the Voesh Fig & Amber Body Scrub - something I definitely need to check out.
If you're on the hunt for a fig-ish shade of blush, it's got to be either the Rhode pocket blush in plum, or the new Fara Homidi blonzing set in Velle.
For a spray on perfume, Plage du Figuier by Chloé is a beautiful warm option. It’s well balanced without being too sweet, juicy, a little salty and green.
