Every week here, the essay does the work of naming the structure. It says the head’s calendar should be a designed object, not a queue. It says strategic time has to be protected the way a budget line is protected. What it does not do, because an essay is not built to do this, is show you what the calendar actually looks like once that argument is taken seriously.

So below is one. A real week, laid out block by block, the way it would actually sit on a calendar app. Strategic time that is genuinely untouchable, not just usually free. Operational work fitted around it instead of the other way around. A daily coordinating block that exists specifically to absorb the requests that used to land directly on her calendar, so the rest of the institution slowly learns a different habit. You can hold it up next to your own week and see exactly where the two diverge.

This is the first of what I want to build for paid subscribers going forward: not another argument, but the artifact the argument implies. A real calendar, a real org chart, a real policy, the thing you could actually use on a Tuesday instead of just agree with in the abstract. More of these are coming. The weekly essay stays free because the thinking should travel. The examples are what paid support makes possible.
