Similar to the pattern we recognized from Chapter 4 with deliverance and healing, we see in this passage how forgiveness is also very much tethered to healing. May we all experience a measure of grace (forgiveness and healing) as we put our faith in this Word from God.
In this passage, we reflect on Christ's calling of his first disciples and the incredible cost and privilege of obedience.
This message shows how deeply Christ’s ministries of deliverance and healing were—and still are—interwoven. Through God’s Word, prayer, and the Communion sacrament, Jesus, through the Holy Spirit, provides both deliverance and healing.

As we read through the geneaolgy of Christ, we recognize the faith of many ancestors and how God honored and continues to honor that faith in generations up to this very day.
In this section, the prophet John came preaching the Good News that "The Kingdom of Heaven is near!" It was good news because the King was coming in peace, with love, forgiveness, kindness, and incredible generosity. To prepare the people to receive such generosity, John brought a severe message against greed.
Through this message we notice the patience of the Lord to wait until the right time for his public ministry and how the season began when "God brought the Word" to John the Baptist. We will relate this to our life and times and ask God to give us the ability to perceive our times through the gift of the Holy Spirit.
As we read through the narrative that describes the time right after Christ's birth and an event in his early childhood, we pay special attention to when Jesus and other faith-filled people around him were "moved by the Spirit."
