Behind the Build: Carter Swider on Teamwork, Trust, and the Momentum Way

Every great project at Momentum Construction + Design depends on the talent and dedication of the people who bring it to life. This week, we’re spotlighting Carter Swider, our Shop Manager and Carpenter. From building trust with homeowners to crafting every detail with precision, Carter embodies the “Momentum Way” - turning challenges into craftsmanship and teamwork into friendship.

1. What inspired you to get into construction and design?
I was drawn to the variety - no two days are the same. I love staying active, working with my hands, and constantly being on the move.

2. What do you love most about your role at Momentum?
Working through challenges alongside my teammates, who are also my friends, is one of the most rewarding parts of the job. Seeing a project come together and the finished product at the end makes all the hard work worth it.

3. What’s a memorable project you’ve worked on, and what made it special?
The Devonshire Remodel was especially rewarding because the homeowners had previously endured a difficult experience with another builder. Being onsite daily and earning their trust over time was not only meaningful, it was genuinely enjoyable. Seeing firsthand how the “Momentum Way” transformed their experience made a lasting impression, helping them feel comfortable, confident, and excited throughout the process.
As a bonus, the project was a standout feature in the 2024 Remodelers Home Tour.

4. What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
In the winter, I’m all about snowboarding. I also play in a beer league hockey team and love hanging out with friends.

5. What’s an unexpected fact about you most people don’t know?
I have a twin sister and am color-blind.

Carter’s blend of skill, teamwork, and attention to detail shines through in every project he touches. Whether he’s managing shop operations, leading fieldwork, or carving turns on the slopes, he brings the same drive and positivity that make Momentum’s work, and culture, something special.
