I Finally Realized What I’m Actually Building

A few months ago, I found myself asking a question I hadn’t asked in a long time.

What do I actually want to be known for?

Not what I want to sell.

Not what content I want to create.

Not what platform I should focus on.

But...

What problem do I want to solve?

It’s funny because years ago I took every career assessment imaginable.

Almost every one of them told me the same thing.

I’d probably be happy in education.

Or human resources.

At the time, neither answer made much sense.

I didn’t become a teacher.

I didn’t go into HR.

But looking back, I realize those career quizzes knew something I didn’t.

I’ve always loved helping people find the right fit.

I’m the person friends & family call when they’re updating their resume.

The person who loves brainstorming career ideas.

The one who gets way too excited helping someone discover a job they’d be great at.

What’s funny is that every now and then I’ll run into someone I haven’t seen in twenty or thirty years.

They’ll say,

“You probably don’t remember this, but you helped me get my job at...”

And honestly...

Sometimes I don’t remember.

But they do.

Because helping people find their place has always been one of my favorite things to do.

Fast forward to today.

Over the last sixteen years I’ve explored just about every corner of the creator economy.

I’ve made money through:

  • Blogging

  • Affiliate marketing

  • Influencer partnerships

  • User-generated content

  • Digital products

  • Consulting

  • Community building

  • TikTok Shop

  • Creator funds

I’ve bought more courses and hired more coaches than I’d like to admit.

I wasn't looking for another opportunity—I was looking for clarity.

And after all of that...

I realized something.

The biggest problem isn’t that moms don’t know how to make money.

It’s that they don’t know where they fit.

The creator economy has become so noisy.

One person says UGC is the future and another says you have to create a course.

Then TikTok Shop starts trending.

Then AI.

Then the next thing.

It’s exhausting.

I actually gave it a name in my new Mom Creator Monetization Map:

You bounce from one opportunity to the next, wondering if you’re missing the one that’s going to change your life.

But here’s what I believe now.

There isn’t one right path.

There is one right path for you.

Some moms love teaching.

Some love writing.

Some love being on camera.

Some would rather stay completely behind the scenes.

Some need to make money quickly.

Others are willing to spend a year building an asset they’ll own forever.

None of those paths are wrong.

They’re just different.

And I think my job isn’t to convince every mom to become an influencer.

It’s to help her understand what’s possible...

Explain what each path actually involves...

The good.

The bad.

The trade-offs.

Then help her choose one that fits her life well enough that she’ll actually stick with it.

Because that’s where success comes from.

Not chasing every opportunity.

Choosing one and giving it enough time to work.

When I created the Mom Creator Monetization Map, I realized I wasn’t just making another free resource.

I was putting words to the mission that’s been hiding in plain sight for years.

Helping moms find their place in the creator economy.

That’s the company I’m building now.

Not just courses.

Not just resources.

Not just a community.

A place where moms can stop wondering where they fit...

...and start building businesses that fit their real lives.

Because after sixteen years, I’ve learned something important.

Making money is wonderful.

But building something that feels like it was meant for you?

That’s even better.

And if I can help one million moms find that feeling, I'll know I built exactly what I was meant to build.

The Mom Creator Monetization Map walks through the most common creator income streams—from UGC and affiliate marketing to blogging, digital products, community building, and more—and helps you think about which path fits your strengths and goals.
