Truthfully, I sat down to write this letter and found myself staring at a blinking cursor for far longer than I’d like to admit. How do you summarize two years that have changed every part of your life?
If I’m being honest, I’m not sure you can.
The last two years have been the most beautiful, exhausting, stretching, transformative years of my career—and, in many ways, my life.
I spend so much of my time looking ahead. It’s simply how I’m wired. I’m a dreamer by nature. I’m always thinking ten steps in front of where my feet actually are. The next project. The next collection. The next collaboration. The next place we hope to go.
It’s a gift. But it’s also why I sometimes forget to pause long enough to realize we’re standing in the very moments I once prayed for.
This year reminded me to look up. To notice. To celebrate.
Because what has happened inside these two short years is something I could have never imagined. More than anything, I feel grateful. Grateful for every family who trusted us with their home before there was a long list of magazine features or recognition attached to our name. Grateful for every artisan, contractor, maker, and vendor who believed in our vision. Grateful for every reader who has quietly followed along, every message you’ve sent, every project you’ve shared with a friend, every kind word you’ve offered when I didn’t know how badly I needed to hear it.
This studio has never just been “mine”.
It belongs to every person who has believed in it. One of the things I find myself reflecting on most isn’t the projects or the travel—although there has certainly been plenty of both. (Seventy-six flights this year... yes, I counted.) It’s the people.
