A few weeks ago, I found out I had been selected to exhibit in the annual Tarpey Gallery Open exhibition. I am excited because this is the first time I’ll be exhibiting outside of East Anglia and Wales!
The below pieces were accepted; Mini Vaporscape 011 and Mini Vaporscape 012, both from the spring.23 set 10 x 10 cm on paper (2024) £125/ea.
Living in Cambridge means I can get around by bike — but this also means I rely a lot on public transport to get to places outside East Anglia. Although I managed to navigate most of the way via train, I arranged to meet up with my family (who live away from Cambridge) at a nearby station to drive me to the gallery.
This also meant that my partner and I didn’t need to take a trundle bus from the station to the village (yay!).
What's especially satisfying for me is that it was the first time my family has had the opportunity to attend a Private View with me. They got an insight into this element of my career and saw my work being exhibited alongside a collection of brilliant artists.
Nestled in an archway from the front room to the back room on the ground floor were my two paintings.
A great atmosphere and lots and lots of people!
I am so grateful to have been selected to exhibit in the 2024 open call show. Exhibiting in the midlands/north of England my not too far from where I was born, means my presence across the UK is gradually growing. Tarpey is the fifth gallery I’ve shown in (outside of University exhibitions), and as an emerging artist, it means a lot that my creativity is being recognised.
The work on show was abundant: an array of abstracts — my personal favourite — and some beautiful 3D work. Here are a few that caught my eye…
Overall, it was inspiring to see new (to me) artists to research and connect with and revel in a lovely day out with my family.
