Timothy LeBon · Modern Buddhism

Over the last year, I’ve discovered a real love for writing poetry. As almost all of it is related to Buddhism, I want to share it with you. There is an immediacy and ineffability in poetry, which, to me, is the essence of Zen. Though poems use words, they express beyond words. In fact, they express that which words have no dominion over. They express truth in ways that no other medium has access to. I love to write them, and I hope you enjoy reading them as well. This was the first one I wrote last year in June.

It has been written in the stars.
For if only you could see it, you would also know
That it has always been true.
Remember as the Buddha said,
“My mind, this is not mine, this does not belong to me, this I am not.”
And know-
This is Love.
This is You.
I am (You).

Be here now in this existence.
Create and be created.
The stage and the crowd are only illusions.
And all the power to create the future rests in our hands.
Let’s build for Love
Build for You
Build for Us
I Love You.
We are (Love).

There is a path to liberation.
And we are all just walking each other home.
