I’m so happy to share that I’ll be back in Europe next month hosting a series of intimate pop-up events in public parks. I just love these events. They’re called ‘Field Trips’. We get together in the afternoon / evening, spread out on the grass under the trees, do a light forage for local plants and fungi, and then plug into synthesizers and drift into bioelectric soundscapes with headphones on. I’ll lead a couple of thought experiments, and welcome a few special guests. I release the exact location of the event 24hrs before - kind of like a rave - but also not at all like a rave. This month marked the opening of my first installation! Presented in collaboration with my good friends and co-creators Tim and Cherie from Slimy Oddity, this interactive exploration of bioelectricity and connection is running until the end of March at Space Available in Jakarta. I actually met Tim and Cherie 2 years ago at a Field Trip in Amsterdam and we got to talking after the event. By the end of the evening we’d cooked up the idea for this exhibition. Then came years of gestation, sporadic work, and technical consideration until about a month ago when we heard that Space Available was keen to host us in Jakarta! My friend Lionel got to work on the coding and we raced to get things ready for this opening.
In ‘Call of Nature’ participants wander around an otherworldly setting populated by strange statues, interacting with the bioelectric changes in plants and their own bodies by pressing their hands onto the glowing touch plates. As more statues are activated, new harmonic patterns emerge. When all 5 statues are activated at the same time the center console lights up and an interdimensional message is unlocked… all through the power of bioelectricity. On view until 28 Mar 2026. And finally… I have a real treat for the paid subscribers. This month I have a sneak preview of a short movie that I made with my good friend Snow Raven in Antarctica. Yes, Antarctica. We were both on a cruise called the Wonder Summit last November and ended up collaborating with algae, with penguins… and with snow 🤯 Snow Raven is indigenous Sakha from Siberia and this was her first experience exploring the South Pole. If you’re familiar with her work, you know what a truly special experience is about to unfold.
