Consistency

The theme this week was consistency.

I realized I’ve been sending this newsletter out every week for a little over a year.

American Elf: The Collected Sketchbook Diaries, Vol. 1 by James Kochalka is a collection of five years worth of his daily diary comics. On one of the first pages he writes, “For some reason, I just had this feeling that if I drew an ongoing daily diary strip that it just might be my masterpiece.”

“The way I show up for myself, the way I discover who I really am, is to make an appointment every day to show up at the studio and see what happens. If I show up to the page, I show up to myself.” Austin Kleon wrote a great post about showing up.

“Slow and steady can take you pretty far!” Kent Peterson types a page every single day on one of his typewriters. This week he shared a picture of the binders that hold all those typed pages.

Did you notice how both Austin and Kent made a snail stamp? 🐌

“Perfection is a trap.” True. If it has to be perfect, it will never happen.

Keep showing up. Keep doing the thing. Be the snail.
