Rookesby: Urgent Warning

If you’re a fan of George Orwell’s book 1984, you’re going to love Rookesby: Urgent Warning by Donald M. Stinson.

I downloaded this e-book back in October 2024 when it was offered as a free Kindle download on Amazon to promote it’s release. I’ll admit, I never really planned on reading it, but I believe in supporting authors and I wanted to help up the Amazon ranking. As it turned out, I didn’t have anything on my end table really calling out to me last week (amazing since there are about 8 unread books there!), so I opened this on my Kindle.

Written like a diary, this book follows the main character through two presidential elections in the United States. What’s really gripping is that this book was released in September 2024, prior to the U.S. election, yet, like 1984, it feels like the author is writing about everything that’s currently happening in America. It’s downright scary the similarities between the title character, Rookesby, and the current U.S. President. One can only hope that the ending of this book is not how we’ll end up.
