There’s a kind of place that lives deep in your heart. Not always where you’re from — but where something in you feels suddenly, instinctively at home.
For me, that place is Shetland.
I grew up in the Czech Republic, but from my first visit here in 1999, I was drawn in. Over twenty years ago, I made the move for good — building a life, a family, and eventually Shetland Wool Adventures, helping others experience these islands not as visitors, but as part of the fabric of the place.
During the pandemic, when travel stopped, I created the Shetland Wool Adventures Journal so we could all stay connected to this extraordinary place. It led to founding 60 North Publishing, and this Substack — different ways of sharing the same love for these islands.
If you’ve been enjoying Postcards from Shetland, I wanted to let you know the Journal is half price this week, including our bundles.
What’s inside each volume:
6 Shetland knitting patterns from local designers
Photography of island life
Interviews with island makers & knitters
6,000 years of history & heritage
Coastal walks & hidden paths
Recipes from my kitchen
Book reviews & island stories
“It feels like you’re amongst friends” — Emily, Journal reader
Whether you’re dreaming of visiting Shetland, planning a trip, or simply wanting to go deeper into island life — this feels like the right moment.
