Miri Stone · Miri and the Muse

Dear friends, creative souls, and fellow book devourers,

Eek. I am so excited to share everything that’s been going on this month. Now that I’ve got a groove on in the writing cave, I’m gonna hop right to it so I don’t loose the thread on my latest work-in-progress.

In today’s post at MIRI AND THE MUSE—which serves as both my indie author newsletter and a personal journal into living a creative life filled with delicious glimmers—you will find:

  • Wrap up from my latest book signing… if you couldn’t make it to MEET ME IN THE MOUNTAINS then come have a squizz with me <3

  • An update from the writing cave focused on the story that’s been pouring out of me since getting juiced up at the book signing.

  • Cover Reveal for TOASTY HALLOWEEN… my next book release!

Keep scrolling to find out more but first… check out my birthday flowers.

(Secret fact: I absolutely adore flowers—and living pot plants like African violets, orchids, ferns and cacti—but hardly ever get them from others so I occasionally gift them to myself. Whenever a loved one goes out of their way to choose something for me, boy oh boy, does it feel like an extra special treat. Can you tell I’m chuffed from my smile?!)

My gorgeous friend knew I was super nervous about getting back to book signings after all the time that had passed, so she got me this incredible bunch of flowers to celebrate my birthday and my appearance at MEET ME IN THE MOUNTAINS. How sweet is that?!

What went down in MMM 2026, stays in… just kidding!

The plan for this book signing—from my perspective—was to give myself the chance to do a soft re-entry into the world of live author events and book signings, reconnect with friends from the book world, meet some awesome peeps, and share my latest pretties with fellow book devourers.

And here I am, grinning like a wild thing, behind my table at MMM 2026.

Even so, it has been a couple of years since I last did a live event, which meant I was just a teensy-weensy bit nervous…

Upon returning form a family trip to New Zealand, I spent a couple of weeks doing a mock-up in my very own sun room while my family buzzed by every now and then to offer encouragement and lend a crochet helper or two. Those cuties ended up propping up my books on the big day so they stood tall and proud in their book stand.

(Yes, my family are pretty dang awesome!)

I also want to send a special shout out to a couple of my local Aussie author friends—Jade Bones & Cassie Laelyn—who helped me navigate finding a last minute solution for my low stock supplies.

MEET ME IN THE MOUNTAINS was hosted by Harley Parker & Kate Bonham. They were both incredibly organized and their volunteers were so helpful. Thanks, Kate & Harley, for putting on such a beautiful event—you made this a wonderful reentry into the fabulous world of Aussie book signings. xox

On Friday afternoon, I made the two hour trek to the venue with all my gak and set my table up for reals. Luckily a good friend of mine, Ebony Olsen, was right next door to help calm my nerves.

Bonus, we got to catch up over dinner that night, too!

By Saturday morning, it was all go, go, go.

On the day of the signing, I gushed my way through book introductions; grinned like a loon as happy readers walked away cradling their new babies; gave away oodles of bookish stickers, caramel candies, and postcards for the Phoenix Crew and Knights of Destruction series; and signed my very own Miri Stone author spread in readers’ Meet Me in the Mountains 2026 Autograph Book organized by our fabulous event hosts.

All in all, I had such a blast catching up with readers, vendors and fellow authors who flew by my table. Other friends—long time book devourers—even stopped by for a heart-to-heart and a hug. Those precious hugs were the highlight of my day. I also loved getting to know V Brown—stationed right across the aisle—who had some absolutely divine covers and character art to share with her readers.

Thankfully, this time I’d remembered to stock up on my instamax film in advance, so I nabbed polaroids with as many of these fabulous souls as I could.

By the end of the day, I was thoroughly exhausted but oh-so-full of inspiration, ready to get back to the page and start working towards my next signing—LOVE ON THE BEACH in the Gold Coast!

(Psst. If you are one of my book devourers who asked if I could pretty please set up a pre-order form for LOTB, I’m on it. Setting myself up on Beventi is on the top of my list of author goals for this quarter, along with releasing TOASTY HALLOWEEN. So I’ll be sharing that link here just as soon as it’s available!)

If you’d like to get the lay of the land, visit the LOVE ON THE BEACH facebook group to see who will be attending this fabulous book signing in Surfer’s Paradise and when the next batch of tickets go on sale.

Will I see you there, creative friends and fellow book devourers?!

Hello my lovelies,

Eek… I’m so proud to be able to share this month’s update with you.

As many of my readers here at MIRI AND THE MUSE know, I’ve been determined to find a way to wrestle the Muse and contribute a story to the LOVE ON THE BEACH signing anthology because it’s raising money for cancer research, making it a cause close to my heart. Being part of this anthology feels like a way to honor Mum and all the gifts she’s left me.

Thankfully, I came away from Meet Me in the Mountains ready to tango with the Muse, so it didn’t take much to throw myself headlong into my current WIP (author slang for ‘work in progress’) called FLANNEL BEAR.

And let me tell you, as soon as I got the cards down for this friends-to-lovers, fated mates cabin-in-the-woods tale, it wanted out. Only a few weeks later and I’m already at 16k with two story beats to go. That’s right—someone pinch me—because I’m actually to going to get this swoon-worthy shifter love story in under the 20k max word count!

Okay, it’s back to the writing cave for me, but you should stick around to see the cover reveal and book description for TOASTY HALLOWEEN below.

With love,

Squee with me, book devourers, because I can’t wait to get this KNIGHTS OF DESTRUCTION prequel short story—told from Elizabeth’s point of view—into your hawt lil’ hands!

TOASTY HALLOWEEN is shaping up to be a super fun Halloween romp with just the right amount of hilarious seasonal mayhem and found family sweetness from our favorite cast of tough-as-nails shifters living in Seattle...

It’s Elizabeth’s first Halloween in the Dragon’s Den and it appears that her new job as a resident tattoo artist should have come with a ‘hazardous working conditions’ warning. Instead, it came with an ominous bonus clause promising a generous pay day providing the tiger shifter can survive her first year.

Elizabeth soon discovers why.

Her unhinged landlord is dead set on running her clientele off his turf, but something in the air has her animal just as determined to stick the landing. Whatsmore, the dragon’s mischievous mate is about to turn up the heat on this combustible situation.

The battle of wills has just begun.

How high will the flames fly? And who will be caught in the cross-fire?

If you haven’t already caught up on the KNIGHTS OF DESTRUCTION you should start here with the first book in the series, LONELY KITTY.

Happy reading, friends and fellow book devourers!

With love,

M.S. xox
