A woman recently came to me with something that I know many women carry quietly for a very long time before they finally say it out loud.
She wrote:
“He says he loves me, that I matter to him, that everything he does is for me. But I feel like there is simply no time for the relationship. No quality time together. No gifts. No romance. Nothing. He works, and that is it. Materially he covers the basics - a fixed monthly amount - but it is several times less than what he spends on crypto, which he does not tell me about and does not involve me in. I feel like I am hitting a closed wall. He does not open up, does not share his ideas, says he does not want to because then I could control him - and he wants to manage everything himself. My needs feel less important and unmet. There was even a situation where I needed a taxi late at night and he did not call one on principle, saying I should have mentioned it earlier. I made it home on my own. I understand the lesson. But I cannot let it go. I do not feel safe with him. What can I do?”
I want to answer this with complete honesty. Not to criticize her, and not to dismiss what she is feeling. But because I genuinely believe that seeing a situation clearly is the only thing that actually helps.
The loneliness is real. The feeling of not being seen, not being prioritized, not being held - that is real. I am not minimizing any of it.
But I also want to ask something that might be uncomfortable.
How much do you actually know about this man?
Not about what he is or is not giving you. But about what drives him. What he is building. Why specifically crypto. What it means to him. What vision he is working toward. What his real values are and where they come from.
Because reading this message, I notice something. There is a lot of information about what she is not receiving. And very little information about who he actually is.
She does not know why crypto matters so deeply to him. She does not know what he is trying to build or protect. She does not know what his goals are, what his timeline is, what fear or hunger or vision is underneath all of that work. And she is telling herself that it is because he does not let her in.
But I want to gently offer a different question.
Is it possible that he does not let her in partly because, every time she approaches that world of his, he feels her resistance, her worry, her disapproval - and he closes the door to protect something that is very important to him?
When a man has a goal that matters to him deeply - something he is investing significant time, energy, and money into - and the woman beside him approaches that goal with doubt, irritation, or subtle dismissal, he does not think, “She is worried about our finances.” He thinks, “She does not believe in me. She does not respect what I am building. She is not on my side.”
And a man who feels that way about his partner does not open up to her. He protects what is sacred to him by keeping it away from the person who, in his experience, meets it with negativity.
She wrote that it bothers her how much he spends on crypto. That she knows you can make money on it but also lose everything. That she does not understand why he does not include her. But here is what he likely hears in all of that: “What you care about most is a waste. I do not trust your judgment. I do not believe in your vision.”
And you cannot build closeness with someone who feels that way around you.
The Queen is not the woman who suffers quietly and hopes he will eventually notice.
She is also not the woman who demands that he prove his love through taxis and romantic gestures while remaining completely uninterested in the world he is actually living in.
The Queen is the woman who studies her man. Who understands what drives him. Who knows what he is building and why. Who becomes, over time, the person he most wants to think alongside - because she is the one who genuinely sees him.
So if I were sitting with this woman, I would say - stop competing with his world. Start entering it.
Not from a place of service, not to cook him soup and fold his shirts. But from a genuine curiosity about who he actually is.
Say something like: “You know, I have been thinking about crypto lately and I realized I actually know almost nothing about it. I feel like you are so ahead of where I am in understanding this. Can you teach me? I want to understand what you see in it.”
Even if it does not interest you at all. Even if you would never trade yourself. Because what you are really doing is not learning about crypto - you are telling him: I want to enter your world. I am not your enemy. I am on your side.
And watch what happens.
When a man feels that the woman next to him is genuinely interested in his inner world - not to judge it, not to redirect it, but to understand it - he begins to open. He starts to share. He starts to see her as a partner. And gradually, as trust builds, he starts to want to invest in her. Not out of obligation. But because she has become someone whose world he now wants to be inside too.
She ended her message by saying she will keep developing her business and building her own security. And I understand that impulse completely. When you do not feel safe in a relationship, of course you reach for independence.
But I want to name what that move actually signals to him.
When she says, “Fine, I will handle my own safety myself,” she is not just making a practical decision. She is also communicating, “I do not need you. I will manage without you.” And a man who hears that does not suddenly become more motivated to show up for her. He simply confirms to himself what he already suspected - that they are living parallel lives, and that is acceptable.
That is the moment when two people stop being a couple and start being roommates.
The difference between a woman who gets everything she described wanting - the presence, the generosity, the safety, the closeness - and a woman who stays stuck waiting for it, is not luck. It is not finding a better man. It is understanding. It is knowing why a specific man behaves the way he does, and knowing how to reach him there.
The Queen does not just know what she wants from a man. She knows who he is. She knows what he is building, what he fears, what fills him, and what she represents in his life. She becomes so woven into his world that he genuinely cannot imagine moving through it without her.
That is not something that happens automatically. It is something that is built.
And it starts not with a better conversation about taxis or budgets or who is investing what - but with the decision to stop being on opposite sides, and start figuring out how to become one.
That work is entirely possible. And it is worth doing.
