A few thoughts on pace, clarity and leadership

Over the last while, I’ve been thinking a lot about pace.

Not just how fast businesses are moving, but how difficult it has become for leaders to think clearly in the middle of the constant pressure, change and noise.

One thing I’m noticing across sectors is that many leadership teams are exhausted, and not because they lack ambition or capability, but because they’ve normalised constant availability and reactive decision-making.

Back-to-back meetings.
Constant context switching.
Always solving.
Always responding.

At a certain point, it becomes very hard to step back and properly see what’s happening strategically.

Ironically, some of the strongest leaders I know are becoming so much more protective of their time, energy and thinking space.

Not because they care less.

Because they understand that clarity matters.

That’s also why I don’t believe AI is the real challenge facing most businesses right now.

In many cases, the bigger challenge is leadership readiness for change and helping people adapt without overwhelming them in the process.
