I am mostly a mineral person. I have a few fossils, but not that many, and they, for the most part, double up as minerals too (eg: pyritised ammonites). I also don’t have too many sliced or polished rocks (mostly some agates).
This one intrigued me though. It is a slice of a primitive conifer from Zimbabwe, and is an unusual colour. The fossil wood is Triassic in age, from about 200 million years ago, and the colour, a weird blue-green, is apparently from chromium. The locality is a bit over 300km west of Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe.
