I enjoy hearing from you readers out there. After I wrote a column called “Into the Blank” about changing course, or “genre,” in life, I heard from my friend Dr. David Fisher. David and I know each other through the Thomas Wolfe Society, and I knew he was an artist, but I didn’t how he came to be one. In his note to me, he said my column described his own experience. “I did almost completely step into the blank when I retired,” he said. After I read his story, I was hooked. I invited him to join me for an interview, and he accepted. I really enjoyed our conversation, and I think you will, as well. David has a fascinating and inspiring story about life change, one that I suspect will resonate with some of you fellow genre-shifters. Besides, I think you will enjoy seeing his art!

On a different note, I invite you to join me for “100 Years of Route 66,” a free Zoom lecture scheduled for 11 a.m. August 22. Just click here to register.
