It’s once again been a while since I’ve spoke about my life here. I’ve become quite used to not posting when things are going well for me, and then posting when things aren’t doing so good. I wanted to change that, while not putting pressure on myself to do fun things all the time for the sake of a post, but to let life do it’s thing and then post when I felt like I has something to say. Tonight feels like one of those nights. Mostly because I’m procrastinating tidying my room and washing my hair. I’ve spent the whole weekend relaxing, playing video games, reading, shopping, doing anything but those dreaded tasks lol. It’s fine, I’ll get round to it sometime next week if not tonight.

*Also posted on my blog

  • Been going to a lot of concerts, Taemin at Hyde Park, BTS and My Chemical Romance. Each one filling me with so much joy. Taemin’s was heart-warming, being surrounded by all my fellow shawols and taemates as she shows the UK what he’s made of. BTS felt special, like they had nothing left to prove but they would give it their all anyway. MCR was incredible, so much that I saw them twice. Both times equally important to me, the first being with my sister where we felt nostalgia for our youth together. The second with my boyfriend Dan where we held each other, despite being in a stadium filled with people who get it, experiencing that moment with someone who really see’s you, felt very intimate and comforting.

  • Updated my CV and portfolio. I’m still wondering if this is the right time for me to look for other opportunities, of if the never ending leaving drinks and dinners are making me feel weary of the future. Whichever it is, I’ve been having a decently good time making changes to my work and seeing how far I’ve come since the last time I updated it. It really puts into perspective what’s overwise so obvious to see, my improvement and experiences gained in a career younger me would have dreamed of. Despite my feelings towards my work currently, I am thankful for how much I’ve learnt here.

  • Visited the seaside and theme park with Dan and having the most elite tier doughnuts that I last had as a kid. They were incredible, delectable even. I don’t remember how long it’s been exactly, at least 15 years since I’d been there. Dan said he used to work there when he was 16 and it made me giggle a little too much. The arcades were exactly as I had remembered them, a bit of a time capsule to the 90’s but with some new machines here and there. The coin machines almost roped me in lol.

  • Of course I need to mention the world cup. Football always has a magnetic, feel good vibe to it when its vs countries. Every match was an opportunity to have fun with friends and family, and strangers at the pub. Happy faces all around the streets of London after work. Even more happy faces walking down the dimly lit streets around the pub in Rayleigh after the 2am finish. An absolutely devastating feeling of despair filled the air when we lost, but a huge sense of pride and love of the game after our match with France. Roll on the Euro’s because I need another summer where I feel as happy as I did during this world cup.

  • I’ve been seeing very small gains after being consistent with my workout split. Doing 3-4 workouts a week is challenging but I’m happy that I’ve been keeping at it for so long. I love pilates and my instructor has been introducing more lagree style workouts which have killed me lol. The gym workouts are harder as there is no one spurring me on, but I’m happy if I get one gym session in a week.

  • Made some huge strides with my email automations at work, and we should be able to get the reactivation emails live next week. This was really hard to get across the line for the directors so I’m really proud of myself for getting them on board and putting an end to the endless requests to send to inactive subscribers lol.

  • Stuck to a healthier diet by taking in more packed lunches to work and being more mindful of how much I’m eating. Who knew a M&S croissant had that many calories! I love my little lunch box, she’s so pink and so cute and I feel bad not using her haha. I’ve been watching tiktoks on fun lunch box idea’s so I can try out different snacks and it’s been so fun to mix and match.

  • TV: House of the Dragon. spoilers What on earth is Rhaenrya doing? Please if she would just listen to Daemon and be done with it, the greens would be wiped out instantly. Yes there will be casualties but the realm is already mostly behind her, so there’s no fear of being ousted. Ormund is annoying me but I see his vision LOL. I hope Rhaenrya loses Mysaria bc I feel like she’s going to ruin things for the Blacks. Aegon’s redemption arc is fun to watch.

  • Movie: Spider-Man Brand New Day. Of course this would be on the list. I actually felt a bit conflicted coming out of the cinema as I usually leave spidey films with tears in my eyes, but this one I didn’t. Maybe it’s because it felt more like a build up to something bigger while closing loose ends, so I didn’t have a lot to be emotional about. It felt true to the comics and old cartoons I used to enjoy as a kid, one of the most hilarious spidey films by far.

  • Anime: Dragon Ball Daima. Watched this with Dan and then watched him play Dragon Ball on steam lool but it was a very feel good, light hearted anime. A bit of a slow burn at the start but once it picked up it was great. The final battles reminded me of why the anime is so goated.

  • Music: My Chemical Romance. After the concerts I couldn’t stop listening to them for a good two weeks straight haha! I just wanted to take myself back to that moment of pure euphoria watching them sing some of my favourite emo jams.

Once again my camera roll makes it look as if I’ve not done much, but when I write it all out like this, it’s another reminder to be grateful for the blessings I’ve had this year. Aside from the stress of work colleagues leaving me (who am I going to have lunch with?!), my life is very good right now. Work is manageable, I’ve been catching up with my friends more this year. My boyfriend makes me so happy, and weekends away with him feels like the getaway from London that I need. July was a struggle financially because of the concerts, but my savings and investments are constantly growing, so I have this sense of security that I didn’t have this time last year. Life is good! There’s your update x

I hope August is fun for me, and for you too!
