Aaron Connolly

We welcome Aaron to Millwall on a short term contract. We (that’s me and my Son) were sitting in the Cold Blow Lane End on 23rd November 2024. We were 10 minutes into the game. There was a free kick for Sunderland just outside the Millwall penalty box. It was chipped in to the area and a looping headed clearance by Jake Cooper was met on the volley from outside the box by ….. our new signing Aaron Connolly. The ball stayed low and found the corner of the net. I thought at the time it would be nice to have a player at Millwall who could apply that type of technical ability consistently and I hope my wishes have come true just a few weeks later.

Evidently Aaron was a bit of a young progidy at Brighton & Hove Albion but went out on loan to Hull, Middlesborough and Luton before going to Sunderland.

I like him as a player. I like his contribution to the game. I see him very much as a No.10/inside forward/false 9 (ie: a non target man attacker) He can protect the ball, turn into space, accelerate quickly and get a pass or shot off and when you have a split second to make a decision in a frenetic championship game these skills are very valuable.
