Ho! Ho! Ho!

Today, Tom (Wetware Snippets) and I teamed up for something really exciting - a broadcast of our collaborative Christmas Mix we’ve called "It’s Christmas, Baby! 🎄". We put it together for his company’s internal annual holiday broadcast on Mixlr, a platform that makes live audio streaming a breeze. Every year, they host a festive stream on KringleFM to spread holiday cheer among the team, which I think is an awesome tradition to have and participate in.

Hosting the broadcast together was nothing short of magical. The energy was lit, and the chat was buzzing with excitement as we shared an over-hour-long playlist of our favorite but also newly found Christmas tracks. Some of the songs we selected aren’t available on Spotify, but you can hear them on the YouTube playlist I will share in a moment. As they say - it was all killer, no filler!

"It’s Christmas, Baby! 🎄" Mix itself is a truly joyful journey through more and less known Christmas music. We pulled together tracks that are as diverse as they are fun - everything from disco and soul to funk, pop, rock and roll, and even some strange rap. It’s a celebration of the season with something (hopefully) for everyone!

Some of the tracks on "It’s Christmas, Baby! 🎄" Mix are totally new music discoveries we stumbled upon this week - and they quickly became favorites! Check these out:

This high-energy, commercial-like track is a party anthem wrapped in Christmas cheer. Lil Jon’s signature hype style meets the absurdity of Kool-Aid Man bursting onto the holiday scene. I think it’s obvious, why we made it our playlist’s opening track with Tom.*

*Also, as I just found out, this song was used in a "Merry Little Batman" (2023) animated film trailer, and now I’m even more pumped to watch it next week!

This charming and nostalgic tune spells out the word C-H-R-I-S-T-M-A-S with heartfelt sentiments for each letter, making an incredibly warm, and dreamy atmosphere. The Günter Kallmann Choir’s vocal arrangement is so rich and harmonious that it feels like being wrapped in a cozy musical blanket. It’s the quality straight out of a vintage holiday postcard!

3. "Christmas Kisses" 💋

Ray Anthony, a legendary, swing-era bandleader, and trumpeter, brings his irresistible charm and musical prowess to this festive number. The song is playful, full of jazzy brass and cheeky lyrics about mistletoe and holiday smooches. What’s not to like?

Sharon Jones, often called the "Queen of Funk" delivers with The Dap-Kings a performance so authentic and joyful, that it’s impossible not to smile and groove along. I love how the song critiques the commercialization of Christmas while still embracing the joy and togetherness the holiday season can bring. Pure masterpiece!

This one instantly stole my heart! The story-like lyrics invite listeners to envision a new kind of holiday helper - a mouse with just as much Christmas spirit as Santa himself. I have a sweet spot for songs that add a touch of magic and imagination to holiday lore. Bob Morrison, an acclaimed songwriter, injected a real charm into this lesser-known gem, showing his great storytelling skills. Also, there’s a whimsical flute there, that stands out, adding a playful and slightly offbeat character to the track. And these mouse squeak sounds are just freakin’ cute! I really do hope no one here has musophobia but if so, treat it as a disclaimer!

And now, if you’re in the mood for it, go vote for the MC’s best Christmas music discovery this year:

Whether or not Christmas is a holiday you celebrate, I’m sending you a burst of positivity and heartfelt wishes. This time of year can be a challenging one in many ways, but also an opportunity to slow down and prioritize what truly matters. I have my fingers crossed for you to create space to honor your boundaries, connect meaningfully with loved ones, and indulge in some well-deserved self-care. Take a moment to breathe deeply, release what’s weighing you down, and clear space for new beginnings and brighter moments ✨.

Until the next time!

Yours,
