Happy Sunday, Middle!

What do you know that you know? What do you, as Oprah says, “know for sure?”

The famous Socrates quote says, “I know that I know nothing.”

I’m so fascinated by the “I” in both this quote and the scripture. What if it isn’t simply about what I know or don’t know, but about what I have been convinced of? What have I learned from engaging with others and the information around me? What happens when I broaden my horizons?

This is one of the MOST IMPORTANT gems the Freedom Rising Conference offers, in my opinion. You will be in conversation with people who have done their homework and are willing to think aloud with you in the room. And then there’s time to reflect on what you heard during the talks with others who are attending. We all come away with a common language, with nuanced ideas, and possibly even fresh convictions. Have you gotten your ticket yet? The price will increase to the full price at the end of August, so please don’t delay. And please share with your people who need to be in these conversations with you this October.

Also, Dionne’s off-Broadway debut, The Potluck, has extended its run! The theatre sent us a discount code for you and said that the most tickets available are on

Friday, July 31 7pm

Saturday, August 1 2pm or 7pm

Tuesday 8/4 @ 7pm

Wednesday 8/5 @ 7pm

Thursday 8/6 @ 7pm

Saturday 8/8 @ 2pm & 7pm

Use the code POTLUCKFF with your congregants to get $25 tickets. There’s a 99-cent 2 pm show today for first-come, first-served! Head over right after worship for a chance to snag one of those tickets.

And finally, we’ll all be in the sanctuary this week. We will set up the Kids’ Corner in the balcony for any kids who bring their parents to worship. Remember to come early (9 am) if you’d like to help send off our campers for their week at Camp Fowler!

See you at church,
