Happy Sunday, Middle!
I always love this analogy of the growth of the tree for life: The tree grows in two directions—up towards the sky and down into the earth. While there is room for myriad different musings on this, consider being rooted in joy. Consider joy as the starting place. Consider joy being absorbed into the roots of your life. How does that affect you and your outlook? Even when things come that damage you or maybe even break you, how does this rooting help hold you?
This is different than “happy,” Beloved. This is that “if I don’t praise God, the rocks are gonna cry out” joy. May our praise be uncontainable. May we be deeply rooted in joy!
