I have to tell you that just this LITTLE foray into my own personal investments has been intoxicating. The more I learn, the less I fear it. I definitely do NOT want to be a financial advisor - but I love that I now understand more of the terminology! The overwhelm is going away and the empowerment is arriving! I can’t wait to hear Tammy’s advice on money, women and making smarter financial decisions! More details below…
Good Day Northern Michigan was so fun!!! Which actually started in the green room where I got to hang out with the other guests while Bill made me wait an unreasonable - yet reasonable - amount of time to go on and I nearly sweat through my pink blazer. Then get this. I thought he was wearing a pink tie for me. But. They wear pink every Wednesday. How did I miss that? Anyway, I believe that’s information they all made up to destroy my soul.

Now, formally introducing our June 18th MiGirl luncheon speaker... Tammy Stoerkel, a Senior Advisor with Beck Bode in Traverse City. Tammy and I will talk money - and we promise to make it sexy as hell, haha!!
Tammy gave me her answer to the Q&A below - but here's my take first! Not only is Tammy smart - you instantly relax around her! We graduated from Davenport together (a few, ha) years ago... and our friendship has been a quiet, happy presence all these years - seeing each other often in TC in professional circles and again when our kids went to TC West together. Each time I see her, it's like no time has passed. The giggles and catching up start - she is THAT kind of person! A warm soul! 🩷
Q: We need the dog's name (LOL!) and the kids too!
A: We have a goldendoodle named Dune who keeps things lively. My husband and I have two adult children, Brady and Olivia.
Q: Favorite quote:
A: I have a good friend who often says, “I want to leave people better than I found them.” I help empower clients to move toward the lives they hope to build.
Q: Tell us more about working with women:
A: I work with many women navigating life transitions such as widowhood, divorce or business ownership. I have a soft spot for those who step into managing their financial lives, whether by choice or circumstance.
Q: And the TC office is ALL women, right?
A: Yes! We are a dedicated group of women committed to helping clients plan, invest and move forward with confidence.
Q: How did you build your career?
A: My path to Beck Bode began at Intentional Wealth Advisors, LLC, which merged with Beck Bode in 2022. I value being part of a collaborative team with more resources and having colleagues to work through complex financial planning situations.
Q: FUN FACTS about Tammy?
A: I have donated five gallons of blood to date. I was Miss Grand Traverse Area (I’ll let you guess the year).
Q: What are your ties to Traverse City?
A: Having grown up in Traverse City, giving back to my community is especially important to me. I serve as the Board Emeritus member of Impact 100 TC, where our chapter has awarded $3 million in grants since 2017 across our five-county area. I also serve on the Maidens of Michigan committee, a giving circle.
Q: How do you enjoy your free time?
A: I love soaking in everything this beautiful area has to offer—from discovering delicious local restaurants to spending summer days on the water. Most of all, I enjoy time with family and friends. 🩷
