Where They Travel & Why: Simona Greenberg

This week’s Where They Travel & Why conversation is with Simona Greenberg, founder of Neighborhood Bagels (@neighborhoodbagels). When she isn’t building a bagel business, she’s chasing the small, ordinary pleasures of a place, a quiet piazza, a long walk, a hot dog at the corner market. Here’s where she goes, and why it sticks with her.

Fun fact: I'm proud to say Simona is my sister. We've both got the entrepreneurial spirit, so this one is especially close to home.

This one is easy. Hotel 717 in Amsterdam forever changed how I view hotel experiences. I stayed here for my birthday, and to say they went above and beyond to celebrate me is an understatement. The entire team made me feel so welcome, and the boutique feel of the hotel was a dream. The best part was soaking in the freestanding tub overlooking the vine covered garden.

Picking Rome feels like a cliche, but it’s a cliche for a reason. Nothing compares to strolling down cobblestone streets until you find a quiet piazza for a coffee and a bite to eat. And the Romans are both the kindest and the most beautiful people, in my opinion.

This month I’m traveling to Napa with my husband Alex and our four month old daughter, Val. We’re visiting our best friends who live there. I’m so ready to drink a lot of wine and go back to Honor Market for a hot dog.

I love to travel for many reasons, but my favorite is seeing how differently people around the world treat their daily lives. Coming home with fresh eyes and a new perspective is sometimes the greatest reset, and the best motivator to enjoy life every day.
