a snapshot of a few July reads

Hello, readers! I write this to you from a glorious Friday afternoon at my desk. My mom and stepdad were in town last week, so I took some time off and had not one but two perfect beach days this weekend. Sunday, I spent five wonderful hours parked under the beach umbrella with this book, breaking only to dunk into the ocean and reapply sunscreen.

Now the windows are open, and a dry, almost cool breeze is coming in through them. Which I thoroughly welcome after the slew of sticky and hot days we’ve had. This is my favorite kind of summer weather: shorts and a light sweater weather.

July is in the rearview mirror, and I read a lot of what I’d call classic summer books. So, if you’re looking for something good to spend time with during the last few gasps of summer in the coming weeks, there are some gems here. And a few that didn’t work for me.
