When I sat down to prep for my upcoming bird ornament workshop, I stumbled across this little guy I had sculpted a few years back. And—classic Michelle move—I decided it was the perfect time to finish him. Not because I had the time (I definitely didn’t), but because that’s just what I do when I’m on a deadline: I warm up with something completely unrelated. It’s almost like I need that little boost of confidence before diving into what really needs to get done. Of course, it put me a bit behind… but it also made me quite happy.

Originally, I sculpted him as a dog, but since I had to make his forehead extra long and high to cover a tin can (which you unfortunately can’t see in these photos), he ended up looking a bit more like a cow. I shared him on IG stories, and many of you suggested I call him a COG (cow/dog 😂). Honestly, COG turned out pretty darn cute—and it feels so good to have one more half-finished project completed. Yay for small wins!

Sometimes creativity works like that: the detours, the play, the “wrong turns” end up leading somewhere better than you imagined. I’ll have to show you COG with flowers in him.

We’re so happy to have our youngest daughter and her family down here in Tucson, AZ🌵 for the winter. I seriously love these rascals so much. It’s been the sweetest thing watching the cousins play and connect. And now that the weather’s finally cooling off, we can actually enjoy being outside together.

Hey Vancouver/Portland friends (and out-of-towners if you want to make the trek)!
I’m so excited to share that I’ll be coming your way on Sunday, November 2, 2025 for a cozy in-person workshop. We’ll spend three creative hours together making beautiful, handmade bird ornaments—perfect for giving as meaningful gifts this season or treasuring as heirlooms for years to come.

There’s something so special about slowing down, working with your hands, and creating something that carries both beauty and intention. Along the way, you’ll also pick up skills you can carry into other creative projects long after this class.

We’ll be gathering at the gorgeous @theriver.aframe—a magical space with the Columbia River just steps away. Truly the perfect backdrop for a day of making, connecting, and soaking in the joy of the season.
