Who’s this Dawn character?
Dawn is an incredibly talented writer I’ve known for years. She’s worked on Emmy and Golden Globe-winning series, sold pilots and series for comedies, dramas, and mysteries. Her credits include Ugly Betty, Samantha Who?, NewsRadio, The Client List, Good Witch, Becker, and others.
Me? I’ve been writing on hit shows since 1996. My credits include Just Shoot Me, King of the Hill, Beavis & Butthead, Wilfred, Rules of Engagement, Lopez, Tacoma FD, Maron and many more. I’m a showrunner, executive producer, and the author of A Paper Orchestra, named one of Vulture’s Best Comedy Books of 2024. So there’s that.
You can find a thousand videos on structure and dialogue. AI will hand you twenty logline options, all of them free of personality. None of it replaces what a room with professional writers teaches you.
