Everything sucks

Michael Ehling · The Plugged-In Leader

We've heard that the joy of life isn't the destination but the journey.

And, in moments of reflection, we can buy that.

But the politics, pressures, and pains of the world, work, and life are making the journey awful. They drain away our sense of meaning; they leave us feeling unable to change things. It's so bad that we resort to various ways of distracting, busying, or numbing ourselves. We not only see it affecting us: it's slamming our loved ones. This sucks.

Therefore, we must make the journey come alive again for us, despite the politics, etc. And we can. We each have deep sources of meaning, delight, and ability to make things better. We are built to thrive. So let’s thrive.

If you’re calling bullshit, that’s fine. It's good to be skeptical about my claims. Test everything for yourself. But please don't remain so immune, so wary that you prejudge and miss the possibility.

To get going, find a good-feeling thread and follow it. Maybe it's a shift in attitude, setting a more vibrant strategy, trying a new offer to clients that really meets their needs, or a commitment to treat yourself and others with more grace. It doesn't matter where you start. Just start and let it snowball. Or, if you like, book a 15-minute call with me. Together, we'll pick your thread and next steps.

In your corner,

Michael

PS: Yes, this can be scary. You're not alone. Does it help to know that every leader--even those of us who put up a good face--wonders if they are on the right track and up to the task?
