The Pastor & the Public Square

If you are a pastor looking around a world filled with sharp divisions, angry rhetoric, and moral and ethical inconsistencies, and you are convinced there must be a better way, I’d love to spend the next year working with you. I am convinced there is a better way, a way that is not only different than most of what we see around us, but is counter-cultural, not just to the culture at large, but even to much of what we see in the church.

For the next 12 months, I will host a monthly online cohort for pastors who want to think more deeply about their faith and how it is lived out in the public square. We’ll consider how to firmly hold our convictions without becoming combative or angry. We’ll consider how to love our neighbors without sacrificing biblical fidelity.

Each month, we’ll meet together with other pastors who are concerned about similar issues. We’ll have some reading that will be assigned, but we won’t overload you with homework. We’ll have some special guests you won’t want to miss who will challenge and encourage you. Mostly, though, we will consider whether there might be a better way forward for each of us individually and for how we lead the congregations and communities we are part of.

There is a limit on the number of people who can register, so we can remain relational. Register soon if you are interested. There is no cost. I don’t want that to be a barrier. However, my only expectation is that, if you sign up, you will commit to the cohort - doing the monthly reading, and being present at the meetings.
