Aug 15th - CROWDFUNDING 101 WITH JOANNE BUTCHER
If you are raising money for your film don’t overlook the power of crowdfunding. Not only can it raise much needed funds for your film it is the first step in growing the audience that will go out and watch your film once it is completed. Joanne Butcher is a fundraising consultant who has raised money for dozens of films over the years. Not only will she share tips for maximizing your crowdfunding campaign before you even launch it she will also help you see the bigger picture on how to leverage your campaign to bring in sponsors and investors.
Aug 29th - SECRETS OF SCRIPT SUPERVISING WITH CARLA CASTANEIRA
I met Carla on my very first film job a tiny little indie with less than 20 crew called Know Thy Enemy. She is still one of my all time favorite crew members. She has an impeccable eye for detail and has trained with some of the best.
If you have ever looked at a scripty’s notes and wondered what the hell all those squiggles are or better yet wondered how you can track everything on set and easily give all those notes to your editor this is the workshop for you! Script Supervisors help you stay on schedule, true to your script and maintain continuity. they are incredibly valuable and an underrated job to have on set!
Sept 19th - ALL ABOUT PROPS - ROMAIN GATEAU
Another of my favorite crew members who I have had the privilege of working with on more than a half dozen projects is Romain. I still remember trying to figure out how we were going to get the smoke smell out of the mansion where we were shooting in during one shoot and having Romain come to my office and burn through a pack of herbal prop cigarettes/joints to see how long the smell lingered and if our air purifiers were gonna do the trick. Those are the things you may not realize you have to think about when planning your film and they are the exact tips of the trade Romain is here to impart!
If you want insights on breaking down a script, where the line is between set dressing and props or how best to keep yourself organized so you never have the day 1 prop mixed with the day 4 props you wont want to miss this!
