I have a confession to make.
I’ve been thinking so much about trends as I was writing Dangerous Play and Off-Side, and I know blonde mmc’s are not trendy anymore, and everyone kind of hates them. And I tried so hard to picture Derek not blonde, but with his playboy personality and big blue eyes, he just had to be blonde.
Just hear me out, okay?
He literally dresses up as Ken for Halloween back in Dangerous Play. And in Off-Side he’s just Ken and all he wants is Rosie’s attention.
Give him a chance, because his injury changes him. He’s completely broken to the point that it might shatter your heart and make you fall for him even harder. And he slowly becomes a better person through his injury recovery.
I promise, he can be as swoonworthy, protective, sweet and possessive as any other dark haired mmc.
