Two months to go until Wilomina comes out

Dear friends,

Only two months to go until our graphic novel is released! Wilomina: The Land of Dreams and Nightmares is out on Aug 13th 2026.

Where did the time go? One minute we’re signing a contract, and suddenly it’s two and a half years later. We’re super nervous in anticipation, it’s our first major commercial book with a big publisher, we’ve put so much into this book, and you just never know how a book is going to be received. Right now we’re in the midst of planning a book tour with Kiran, our publicist at Scholastic, and that’s very exciting. We can already say that’s there’s going to be:

Plus events at other venues, festivals and schools. We’ll announce it all once it’s finalised.

Marketing a book is endless, it’s a bottomless pit. You can never do enough. Thankfully this time (for the first time) our publisher is doing a lot of it (they have a great marketing team). But nowadays, once you’ve made your book, you can’t just sit back and expect the publisher to do all marketing for you. Authors also have to do A LOT themselves, and every single market is overcrowded (not just books). The UK alone sees 200,000 different titles published each year. In the US, it’s 4 million (the majority of them are self-published, traditional publishers release around 640,000) books per year. Those numbers are mind-boggling.

The big challenge for us right now is trying to do the marketing and promotion at the same time as making Wilomina Book 2. Both take enormous amounts of time (well, making the book is the biggest workload).
