Seeing our graphic novel for the first time after two years of work

Dear friends,

She’s arrived! After two years of hard work, we’re finally seeing our graphic novel as an actual book for the first time. And we’re very happy to report that it passed the all-important sniff test :-) There’s nothing like the smell of fresh ink.

We’re saying two years, but six months of this was coming up with the story idea, characters, making a pitch and finding a publisher, which is actually relatively quick (it can take much longer than that in publishing). It’s been a bit of a marathon, and seeing the book feels like a relief, elation, and anxiety in anticipation of its release, all at the same time. The colours turned out great, the paper is great, it’s a nice thick volume, and Aimee the designer at Scholastic has really made a smashing job of the cover spread. We’ve never been happier with how a book turned out.
